Took about 1.5 hours to finalize, complete with running commentary from me. I recall saying something like: "With these bright highlights you can simulate the impression of sun on dew. The backlighting forces the powerful effect of sun and deep shadow, creating a striking effect." |

This is one of my favorite painting challenges: to create a brand new scene, and to weld together tone, color, direct light, reflected light, and atmosphere. Humans are essentially creative (although we often create amiss), so designing new landscapes offers the individual the unmatched buzz of being a 'god', so to speak. |
